Noro Kochoran #31 Hoodie Sweater

I love the feel of this angora blend yarn. I don't think I'll be adding the zipper to the front. I loosely used the Hoodie pattern from the Knitting Noro book by Jane Ellison. I wouldn't recommend that book because, even though it has beautiful photographs, it's pretty pointless as a pattern book. Why? 1)There's no way to get the gauge stated. I had to redo all the stitch totals. 2) The patterns are shapeless and unattractive. For a "beginner" level book, if someone can shape a sleeve shoulder head, how come they wouldn't be able to shape sides? I had to shape and lengthen the body, widen the sleeves and totally rewrite the hood part of the pattern. 3) There is overlap with her other pattern books. Sorry, wish I had more positive things to say about this book... Ummm, the photos are pretty?

Wow, Long Time No Post

I have been knitting and crocheting quite a bit this past year, I just haven't been posting. I made a lot of hats & scarves as presents because God knows that I have knit enough stuff for myself... Here are a few of the things I photographed before they flew out of my hands.

Scarf for a Tattoo Artist friend. I used an Italian metallic charcoal yarn that looked like chain mail when it was knit up. Very cool.

A hat for my Jim Morrison look-a-like buddy, Jim.

A big crocheted ripple blanket with random stash yarn. I used to buy skeins just because they were on sale. Not anymore! I'm breaking that habit this year... (I hope). Isadore likes it.

Just got this: A Colinette Ab-Fab blanket kit in February 2006 colorway (on sale). I always wanted one of these...

YAR! Beanie Hat from the ANTICRAFT Crafter's Book

I made mine in Angora. It's double knit and took forever, but I really like that it's reversible.

Hip Hop, Punk & Couture

I knit this executioner / ski mask for my friend, DB. People said it looked scary, which is actually what he wanted.

Another beanie for Jonesy. He plays soccer (football in the UK) and told me what he wanted it to say...

Armwarmers from the Pretty in Punk knitting book. I made them longer and in wool though.

Angora Blend Shawl Collar Cardigan

I love this. The pattern is from Total Crochet by Gayle Bunn. I used Classic Elite Avalon angora blend yarn. There were a few mistakes in the pattern, but they were easy to fix.

Twinkle Big City Knits Bolero Jacket

I knit this with one strand of mohair and one strand of novelty yarn and it knit to gauge. I used a single strand of the novelty around the border to make it look "Couture". I needed to put a button on the neckline though because the yarn is heavy and it falls down in front.

I've been making these shawls and ponchos for charity. The poncho pattern is free on the Lion Brand Yarn website.

New Knits

The miniskirt from the Pretty in Punk book. Knit in Bernat Rose Camouflage and Feza Lazer yarn.

A shrug knit in NORO KOCHORAN # 43 (Angora blend).
